North Texas Giving Day set for September 14
The 9th Annual North Texas Giving Day is back on September 14, 2017, and aims to set yet another national record. North Texas Giving Day, launched in 2009 by Communities Foundation of Texas, has pumped more than $156 million into local nonprofits over the past eight one-day events.
This year a donation to the Friends & Foundation of the Arlington Public Library will support the DREAM: CENTRAL – Building the Library of Tomorrow capital campaign for a new George W. Hawkes Downtown Library in Arlington. The completely new facility will transform the user’s experience through a modern design, state-of-the-art technology, and improved public programming tailored to meet the needs of a growing and diverse population. When complete, the Downtown Library will become a valuable resource for family enrichment and civic engagement – a place where the people of Arlington go to achieve their dreams! North Texas Giving Day is the best day of the year to donate since donations are amplified with bonus funds and prizes.
On September 14, donations of $25-50,000 can be made 6 a.m. to midnight to more than 2,500 certified nonprofits listed on www.NorthTexasGivingDay.org, including the Friends & Foundation of the Arlington Public Library. Donations region-wide will be stretched with bonus funds and prizes raised by the Communities Foundation of Texas. New this year, donors can schedule their September 14th gifts between September 7 and 13 by visiting https://northtexasgivingday.org/npo/arlington-public-library-foundation.
Be sure to make plans to attend the Arlington Gives! Concert at the Levitt Pavilion (100 West Abram Street) that same day! This free community event from 6:30-9:30 p.m. will be sponsored by the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation and feature a performance by Josh Weathers. Guests may bring a picnic or purchase dinner from food trucks and the Arlington Public Library’s TechLiNK will be onsite for event-goers to come aboard and make their donations.
