Storytime is coming back!
Storytime at the Arlington Public Library will be returning on January 2, 2018.
Storytime is an important way to encourage early learning in children, and helps parents foster a lifelong love of books and reading in their children. Storytime is not only fun, but also promotes five early literacy skills (read, write, sign, talk and play)! Different storytime types focus on different age groups, but every storytime helps children and parents bond by participating in healthy, enriching activities together.
We offer story times for
Different age groups ranging from birth (Baby & Me) to pre-k (Preschool Storytime) so that your children can engage in activities designed with their specific needs in mind.
Family Storytime for children of all ages to have fun with books, songs, rhymes, movement and more while creating a love of lifelong learning.
Bilingual Storytime for children ages 2 to 4 to help with language and pre-literacy skills. We have fun in learning with nursery rhymes, songs and free play.
Special Needs Storytime for children of all ages and abilities this program offers a welcoming atmosphere. Come explore this “choose-your-own-adventure” type of storytime.
Read more about the different types of storytimes here, or check out our calendar to see upcoming storytimes at your local branch!
Other ways to support your child’s learning
Check out a kit! Read it Again, and STEM kits are themed boxes full of educational toys, games, dvds, cds, puppets and of course, books! We have kits about shapes, letters, animals, cars, science – and many more. Most kits are aimed at children ages 2-5, but we also have some “Jr.” kits for children under 2. Ask your local branch what kits they have available!
Parent Play Workshop is a program designed for parents of children under the age of 5 years old, that focuses on learning techniques to engage and enhance your child’s literacy skills at home! Learn more at morelibrary.org/parent-play-workshop
