Celebrate Random Act of Kindness Week with the Arlington Public Library
Take part in Arlington Mayor Jeff William’s Kindness Initiative during Random Act of Kindness Week with the Arlington Public Library. In 2017, Mayor Jeff Williams announced Arlington would be participating in a Kindness Initiative. Support that initiative with a Library twist. Every day from April 9 to 13, meet at 4:30 p.m. at different library locations throughout Arlington to spread kindness, good cheer and the library’s giving spirit.
These programs are open to all ages and abilities: everyone is invited! Participants are encouraged to log these acts of kindness through the Ask Arlington app or web page, or by sharing on social media.
Choose from the following Random Act of Kindness activities, or come to every one!
Throughout the course of the week, donate small toiletry items at your local branch – soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, deodorant, etc. These will be used in donation bags, assembled on Thursday, April 2.
Monday, April 9 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. is LOVE YOUR LIBRARY DAY! Go to the library location you love the most and help out around the branch. Staff will be prepared to show you the ropes of greeting incoming patrons, helping people out to their car and generally spreading the library’s good cheer throughout the branch.
Tuesday, April 10 is a popcorn party from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the East Arlington Branch Library’s front courtyard. Help give out bags of popcorn, listen to music and draw pictures with sidewalk chalk.
Wednesday, April 11 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. is a rock painting party at the Woodland West Branch. Paint rocks, then hide them as art throughout Arlington for others to find.
Thursday, April 12 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., give back to the community. Meet at the Literacy House location to assemble bags of toiletries to donate to Arlington Life Shelter and the Salvation Army.
Friday, April 13 is kindness on the big screen! Watch the movie Wonder in the new City Council Chambers. This is an evening movie showing from 6 – 8 p.m.
