ARLINGTON, TX—

Fitnessistas!

Last November, our energetic group of 3rd-5th grade girls spent class time learning about exercising, eating right, judging advertisements, appreciating the beauty of their characters, setting goals, and much more. With the assistance of Sue White, a volunteer from the local YMCA, the girls and volunteers also learned some zumba dance moves. This portion of the program was the focus of the activities on that Saturday afternoon; the girls put on a performance for their families at the Arlington Reads Literacy House. The afternoon was a rousing success.

If you know any 3rd-5th grade girls who might be interested in participating in the program, please let them know that the spring semester will begin on Tuesday, February 7 from 4 -5:30 p.m. The program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays at that time for 6 weeks, culminating on March 15 in the Community Room of the George W. Hawkes Central Library. There is still availability for more girls to participate. Sign up!

If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Ungemach (the program coordinator) at the Arlington Reads office in the Central Library at (817) 459-6985 or at the Literacy House at (817) 460-2727.
