eBook reader on library shelf

Access to NetLibrary eBooks is being migrated to the EBSCOhost platform in July. Recorded Books audiobooks in NetLibrary will be migrated to a different platform which we'll be announcing soon.

This migration does not affect OverDrive eBooks or audiobooks, just NetLibrary.

You may have already tried eBooks on EBSCOhost via the preview available at the NetLibrary website. If not, we invite you to check it out today, and explore some of the enhancements, including:

  • Integrated searching of eBooks and journal articles
  • Enhanced eBook viewer
  • Improved research tools (folder, citation exports, powerful EBSCOhost features)
  • Easily narrow result list by subjects, categories, authors, and more
  • Enhanced notes feature

NetLibrary Preview

By the time the full version is released in mid-July, EBSCOhost will have even more functionality for you to take advantage of, including:

  • Enhanced download experiencee
  • eBook landing pages for enriched browsing
  • Select-your-own checkout duration

What this means to NetLibrary users

When eBooks and Audiobooks are migrated from NetLibrary, your current NetLibrary account information; checkout/download history; current checkouts, downloads and any information on holds you may have placed on eBooks/Audiobooks; and any notes that you have created will not be migrated to the new system, and will no longer be available to you. If any of this account information is important to you, please make sure to save this information somewhere safe prior to July 16th, 2011.

On the EBSCOhost platform, if the title you have chosen to download is in use by another patron, and if your library offers Holds capabilities, you will have the opportunity to place a hold on the title to download when it becomes available. The title will be placed in the Holds area of your My EBSCOhost Folder.

If you have an existing My EBSCOhost account, you will be able to use this same account for eBooks on the EBSCOhost platform going forward. If you do not have a current My EBSCOhost account, you can create one within EBSCOhost.

What this means for the Media Center and Download Manager

The existing NetLibrary Media Center and the current version of NetLibrary Download Manager will continue to function until the migration in July. Upon release on the EBSCOhost platform, a new and enhanced version of Download Manager will be made available to you via the EBSCOhost interface, and the existing NetLibrary Media Center and NetLibrary Download Manager will be retired. We hope this information has been helpful. If you have any further questions about the migration to the EBSCOhost platform, please contact us.
