SE Branch to Reopen in Mid-February

December 2, 2011
ARLINGTON, TX—

The Southeast Branch Library, located at 900 S.E. Green Oaks Blvd., will be closed beginning November 28, 2011, in order to facilitate repairs to the foundation and exterior of the building. The library is expected to resume regular business hours in mid-February 2012.

While the library is closed library users still have options for continuing convenient library services:

  • Sunday Hours: The Southwest Branch, located at 3311 S.W. Green Oaks Blvd. is approximately 4 miles to the west of Southeast Branch. Southwest Branch will begin to offer Sunday service beginning December 4, continuing until Southeast Branch opens for service again in February.
  • Item Holds and Dropoff: Library users may pick up materials on hold or return library materials at the Animal Services Center, located next door to the Southeast Branch at 1000 S.E. Green Oaks Blvd. A secure outdoor book drop will be available at the Animal Services Center for returning materials. Materials currently designated for pickup at the Southeast Branch will be available at the Animal Services Center beginning on November 28. Library users should note that the Animal Services Center hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Programs and Storytimes: Programs that are regularly offered at Southeast Branch will continue at other locations, as indicated on our calendar. Regularly scheduled storytimes will continue at our Southwest Branch.
  • Computers: We encourage those that need to use a computer to come to our Central location. More than 50 computers are available on the second floor.

SOUTHEAST I MISS YOU! the 3 months have seemed like much much longer. I find that I patronized my local library and its accessability more than I knew. I miss that "down the next street access. AND I miss my local library staff (not the the SW staffers haven't be excellent and ubber helpful). Managing my habits of stopping by after work on the way home meant many less fines on my part too!! Each day that I pass I look to see if the fence has come down.
I'm so happy it's opening sometime this month! We miss our favorite library!!! Can't wait.
Your holds may not be processed for this branch. Went in to today to check and was told they are not even letting anybody in and there is a 26 page backlog for holds:( so hopefully will reopen soon! The system needs to reflect this because the items requested are not actually available like the system says.
Hello, Unfortunately there have been times that staff does not have access to the building due to repairs that might require chemicals that are toxic and or outside repairs that would endanger staff coming to and from the building. We are making every effort to pull holds daily to have them ready for patron's at Animals Services. I apologize for any inconvenience you might have encountered.
so its febuary and it about to open cant wait thank you so much
As soon as we know a definite date, we will let you know! Thank you for your patience.
Will the SE library open in Feb because on the calendar it says closed throughout the whole month.
The calendar is currently showing the entire month of February as closed for SE, but depending on a number of factors it is possible that we'll be able to reopen it sooner. That represents the most conservative estimate, given what we know at this time. Stay tuned!
Our new estimate is now mid-February.
It's mid-ish February. Any update?
Thanks for holding our stuff at ASC :)
glad its about to open back in next mounth yeah p.s. i know i spelled mounth wrong
I can't wait until our branch is open again. We miss you guys! Thanks for having holds and drop offs at the ASC! It is very convenient for myself and my family to not have to drive to other branches that are located further away from our home.
Wish there had been a sign on the fence about the 'holds being at the animal services center' near the one saying to go to the SW Branch for services. I came by the SE branch late in the evening, read the relocation sign, went the next day to the SW Branch only to be told my 'holds' were at the ASC. The lady at the ASC kept telling me the announcements of the closing were 'all over the media, etc.' totally disregarding that my real issue was the location of the 'holds' being different not the closing. Not a good customer service move in my opinion to have one service at a location other than the library facilities.
