The National Association of Royalty Owners - Texas website has information specific to landowners in the Barnett Shale gas field.  NARO-Texas members include small royalty interest owners and small independent producers.

Texas Railroad Commission

The Texas Railroad Commission regulates the oil and gas industry in Texas, however its authority does not include lease and royalty matters.  TRC does have a webpage that gives general information pertaining to leases and royalties. 
          The goal of the Texas Land & Mineral Owners Association is to maintain and strengthen property rights for all Texas landowners; many members are royalty owners.  The TMLA site has a general explanation of mineral rights in Texas, a checklist for negotiating an oil and gas lease, and a list of links regarding mineral rights and royalties.

Texas Natural Resources Code

Statutes outlining the rights of royalty owners can be found in the Texas Natural Resources Code, which is searchable online.  Sections 91.401 to 91.406 of the Natural Resources Code concern the timely payment of royalties. Section 91.501 to 91.506 of the Natural Resources Code outline the information to which royalty owners are entitled from their payor.
