"I didn't become a librarian just because of the awesome eyewear"

Contrary to popular belief, I didn't become a librarian just because of the awesome eyewear or wardrobe, I also really like helping people! I very much enjoy working with teens and tweens and getting them involved with the library. I’m very excited to be involved with the Youth Technology Center and I’m looking forward to coming up with some new, innovative and fun programs that will appeal to all ages and hopefully inspire some future trendsetters. I have some wonderful co-workers and I know we’ll do great things together!

What’s up, Claryce?! When I was a kid, I never really thought too much about working in libraries. I remember my mom taking my brother and me to the library and we would grab as many books as we could carry. At that point I knew I loved libraries. I enjoyed reading so much when I was a kid and when I was in fifth grade, I was asked by my school’s librarian to be her library assistant. Fast forward a few years and I started pursuing an undergrad degree in Advertising. I had a part time job at another local library and found that I really love working with kids and teens. I knew I would be much happier in a library than an ad agency so I changed career paths and here I am today. Are you considering a career in library science?
Cool... so did you know when you were a kid that you wanted to work in the library?
