How the Teen Summer Reading Club works

The Teen Summer Reading Club is open to students enrolled in grades seven through twelve, as of the 2009-10 school year.  Participants may pick up a reading log at any Arlington Public Library location between June 6 and August 1.  Reading material may include (but is not limited to) books, magazines, graphic novels, or web pages.  You may also listen to audiobooks.  For some great ideas of what to read or listen to, check out our Teen Reads section!

Mark the time you read on your reading log, and when you’ve read five hours, return the log to any library location for entry into our prize pack drawings to be held August 7 at the Time Twistin’ end-of-summer party. 

This year all Teen Summer Reading Club participants will receive prize pack tickets, which can be put towards various themed prize packs.  Tickets can be put toward one prize pack or can be entered into various prize pack drawings.  It’s up to you!  We will have a variety of different prizes for you to enter your tickets. 

Your first completed reading log earns a form for ordering a free ticket to the Texas Rangers vs. Minnesota Twins game on July 19.  Family members may buy additional tickets to the baseball game at a discounted price. Deadline for getting tickets by mail is Tuesday, July 7.  The Rangers Ballpark will not accept orders by fax or in person. Don’t forget … there is also a parking fee!

The first completed log you turn in also earns a small prize, while supplies last, two prize pack tickets, and an invitation to our fabulous Time Twistin’ party at the end of summer!  Every additional log turned in will earn 5 more prize pack tickets to add to the drawing of your choice. 

All entries must be received by August 1.  Winners will be notified by telephone after August 18.  Teens can only win one prize pack.  If a teen wins more then one prize pack, he or she will receive the first item won.

Teens can also receive one prize pack ticket for every Teen Summer Reading Club program he or she participates in, with the exception of the Time Twistin’ party.
