Take a little time to pamper yourself with this DIY Sugar Scrub recipe. This recipe is super simple and can be adapted to the supplies you have at home. Don’t have scent oils or dyes? Just use the sugar and oil for a plain version of the sugar scrub that will work just as well!

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup mild oil (sweet almond, coconut, olive oil, or other)

  • 5 Drops (more if needed) of Soap Colorant or other Skin Friendly Dye(s)

  • 10 to 15 drops of Preferred Fragrance or Essential Oil

  • Measure out 1 cup of granulated sugar and add to a medium-sized bowl.

  • Add ¼ cup of your preferred oil and combine well with sugar using a spoon or clean hands. (If using solid coconut oil, you will need to melt the oil before using for this recipe. Do not mix coconut oil with sugar until the oil is warm, not hot to avoid melting the sugar.)

  • Add 10 to 15 drops of your preferred fragrance or essential oil to the sugar/oil mixture and mix in with a spoon.

  • Add approximately 5 drops of soap colorant or other skin-friendly dye to the sugar/oil mixture and mix in with a spoon. If you desire a richer color, add more dye a drop or two at a time.

  • Once the mixture is at desired consistency, shade, and scent, you are finished! Keep the mixture in a clean container with a lid and use a healthy pinch at a time when washing your face or in the shower.

Tip: Don’t use food coloring for this recipe, it can dye the skin temporarily.

Bonus Tip: Try to keep water out of the sugar scrub container to extend the shelf life, discard if the scrub becomes moldy.
