The Arlington Public Library's 'Art is for Everyone’ series continues into 2021 with featured artist, Jaime Marum. In April, Marum will be teaching the community all about water marbling and using various techniques with silk with virtual and in-person classes. Classes will be held at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. Social distancing will be enforced, and masks encouraged. Virtual classes will be held via Zoom or available through our social media platforms.

Jaime Marum is a Texas artist who calls Arlington his home. He owns and operates an art studio in Downtown Arlington called Catalyst Creative Arts. Jaime is a self-taught artist and routinely works with a wide range of materials including clay, paper, paint, textiles, and metal. He has been working with many of these materials since childhood. Jaime loves to experiment and learn new techniques and new forms from other local artists and teachers. He is passionate about collaborating with local artists. Jaime has taken his love of making art to the public by sharing and teaching classes and workshops at his art studio since December 20, 2016. Jaime lives in Arlington with his wife, son, and dog. They share Jaime's desire to bring the joy of art to the DFW community and they also help run the studio and teach classes. Make sure to check out Marum’s work in the CREATE room located on the second floor of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.

Art classes will be free and all materials will be provided. These classes are intended for ages 14 and up. Registration is required. Classes are first-come, first served. Due to social distancing, we are restricted to limited capacity at this time. One seat per participant, no extra guests in the class.

Every month a different local artist will exhibit their work and offer free classes to the public. Don’t miss the array of disciplines and techniques on display. This class is part of the 'Art is for Everyone' series, a project supported in part by the Texas State Library And Archives Commission: TSLAC.
