Get ready for Día de los Niños Arlington. On Wednesday, April 30, 2025 we will have a full day's schedule of reading and literacy-themed programs for all age groups throughout the day. Stop by any of our branches to learn about the history of Día de los Niños and libraries, pick out a free book of your choosing, and get a Take and Make Craft Kit, while supplies last.

Baby Time Play
10 a.m., Downtown Library
Caregivers and pre-walking babies are invited to come and play in this special Día de los Niños Baby Time program featuring baby safe play and activities in the Play Room.
Take and Make Craft Displays
All Day, All locations
Stop by any library location to grab your very own Take-and Make Craft Display. There will be a curated selection of children’s books available for checkout along with a special themed craft, unique to each library.

Family Storytime
10:30 a.m., Woodland West
This special storytime is exploring "Playtime and Sharing!" We will be reading stories that focus on the theme, and playtime exploration. Come celebrate Día de los Niños at Woodland West with us.
Make Your Own Book
2 p.m., Southeast Branch
Decorate your own book to fill up with your own stories. This program is free and open to the public, while supplies last. It designed for children under the age of 12, but anyone can come participate and join in on the fun.
Book Character Mini Golf
4 p.m., Southwest Branch
Get ready to play through 10 book-themed holes of mini-golf at the Southwest Library, which will become a literary mini golf course wonderland featuring your favorites from Clifford to Dogman. This program is for children 3 - 8 years old.
Authors in Arlington: Alicia Salazar
6 p.m., East Library and Recreation Center
We are happy to host Alicia Salazar for a special Dia de los Ninos event! She is a Mexican-America children's book author and former elementary school teacher and marine biologist. She is the author of the popular Camila series, which focus on the many adventures of the title character, Camila Maria Flores Ortiz. She has also authored books regarding Dia de los Muertos, the Loch Ness Monster, and Trolls.
Please join us for this special event to learn more about her life and becoming an author, her writing, and her books. Afterwards we will have a moderated Q&A session as well a book signing for those who would like to have their books signed. This event is perfect for children 5 and up.
