The Arlington Public Library is honored to be the recipient of the 2024 Texas Book Festival Collection Enhancement Grant. This grant will greatly support our ongoing efforts to better serve our community’s needs. Since 1995, the Texas Book Festival has supported libraries across Texas, with the goal of enhancing their print, e-book, and audiobook collections to best serve local populations.

We are thrilled to have received $2,500 to improve our collection. These funds have been used to launch a pilot project that expands our large print offerings to include Juvenile Fiction titles. This initiative aims to provide resources for young readers who face reading challenges. Research from the School Library Journal indicates that large print books are especially beneficial for students in grades 3 to 12, as they help reduce anxiety and improve focus. By developing a juvenile large print collection, we hope to support grade-level reading and assist students with visual impairments.

Visit the Large Print Juvenile Collection at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library to explore these new resources. See the large print collection online.
