The Seed Library is a free, community-powered resource that gives you access to a wide variety of seeds, no library card required! The seed library was recently revitalized with the help of Eagle Scout Londyn Franklin.

“I chose to collaborate with the Arlington Public Library because I frequently use its resources and have personally experienced the value it brings to the community. That connection inspired me to support the library and contribute to a place that helps so many others like me,” Franklin says.

You can visit a Seed Library at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, Ron Wright Lake Arlington Branch, Southwest Branch, and Woodland West Branch. Stop by, explore the selection, and take home the seeds you’d like to plant. Patrons will use a sign out sheet to check out seeds and can check out two packets per person.

Our collection changes throughout the year based on donations and seasonal availability, so be sure to check back often to see what’s new!

Director of the Arlington Public Library Norma Zuniga believes this project gives us another opportunity to help unite our community.  “Seed libraries give our library users the opportunity to borrow seeds, plant and grow them and give back seeds from their crop to replenish the supply that is shared. It’s about sustainability but it’s also about community, where our community can assist one another in growing what they need”

Donating Seeds

Help our Seed Library continue to grow! If you’ve harvested seeds you’d like to share, simply bring them to the front desk at any library location, and we’ll add them to the collection.

Want to grow your gardening skills? Visit any library location and browse our selection of books and resources in the 635 section. Stay tuned for related programming starting this fall.
