The mission of the Otis & Rosie Brown Scholarship is to provide resources for local students allowing them the opportunity to obtain a passport for an extraordinary experience abroad. This will provide local students access to obtain their first passport and enrich their lives by immersing themselves in new cultural experiences. By enriching their own lives, they will ultimately influence, shape, and edify the community they live in.
15-year-old (or younger) applicant awardees will be covered for the $100 Passport Book Application Fee, the $35 Execution Fee, and the $15 Photo Service Fee, totaling $150.
16-year-old (or older) applicant awardees will be covered for the $130 Application Fee, the $35 Execution Fee, and the $15 Photo Service Fee, totaling $180. Funds awarded to pay for a first-time United States passport for United States Citizens studying, locally.
Once the candidate has received approval for their scholarship, they must reserve an appointment on our library’s main passport webpage for an available timeslot. This may be immediate or up to 3 months in advance depending on appointment availability.
Scholarship recipients will make their own passport appointment online at Appointment Scheduler (whos-next.com). Online appointments only.
If an applicant does not appear for their appointment, they will forfeit their scholarship, and funds will be reallocated to the next applicant in line. The applicant who missed their appointment may reapply for the passport scholarship and make a new appointment if funding permits.
If you had a passport as a minor (15 years of age or younger) you may still apply for a new passport as an adult (16 years of age or older).
* If you experienced a critical emergency that prevented you from being able to appear for your appointment, please contact Erica Graves within 24 hours at erica.graves@arlingtontx.gov You must title your email “Otis and Rosie Brown Appointment Emergency”
