The City of Arlington is proud to present the Southwest Branch Library SmartScape® Garden, a low water use alternative garden with plants and turf. This garden will provide a long-lasting public education showcase for Texas SmartScape® and water conservation concepts. These interactive demonstration gardens were created through the cooperation of Arlington Water Utilities and the Parks and Recreation Department to showcase an example of water-efficient irrigation and landscaping practices.

Both the Prairie Garden and the Ruthie Brock Reading Garden are part of the SmartScape® Demonstration Gardens. Enjoy our gardens as a place to read and relax or stroll and get ideas for your home landscape. A good book and a garden—what could be better?
