1000 Books Before Kindergarten BackpacksAges 0-5 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a nationwide challenge, encouraging caregivers to regularly read aloud to your children. Reading often to your baby, toddler, or preschooler will help improve vocabulary, listening, and other vital skills your child needs to succeed in Kindergarten. Get started with these three easy steps. 1. Check out one of our 100 backpacks. Each backpack has ten fun, engaging picture books. Search “1000 Books” in the catalog to find the complete list. 2. Keep track of each backpack you read on this paper log. You can also download the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten App for iPhone or Android to keep track on your smartphone. 3. Repeat until you’ve checked out all 100 backpacks! Read them all and your child will reach 1000 books before starting Kindergarten.
